Meet Jackson, a 17-year old double yellow naped amazon. Native to Mexico and Central America, amazon parrots have a potential lifespan of 50-70 years of age. While most amazons have incredible speaking and/or singing abilities, Jackson’s favorite thing to do is honk. Jackson requires a cage large enough to move about freely and flap his wings, as well as several hours outside of his cage daily. He is happy on a play stand, but he also likes riding around on a shoulder or arm or simply rocking in a recliner with his caretaker. Jackson eats a pelleted diet along with bird-safe fruits and vegetables and whatever human foods are healthy for him. Typical of the amazon parrot, Jackson is very intelligent and social and thrives on a very close relationship with his caretaker. Jackson would be just right for a retired and/or single person looking for a faithful, affectionate, and loving companion.
